MAINTENANCE MANAGER

DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for effective preventative and planned maintenance of site assets as well as troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and carpentry at our venue.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the maintenance and operations of the venue including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, chillers, refrigeration, ice making, boilers and associated equipment
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for facility maintenance and operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operation budget; forecast and additional funds needed for equipment, materials, and supplies
  • Perform maintenance on electrical systems (replace light bulbs and receptacles, etc.)
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (i.e. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry, etc)
  • Troubleshoot necessary repairs throughout facility concession stands on equipment including but not limited to sinks, ice machines, general repairs, etc
  • Able to operate a forklift
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations
  • Assist with other event and operational tasks as needed to help the overall success of the building

DIRECTOR OF EVENTS

DESCRIPTION

Utilizing independent judgment, the Director of Events is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of post-booking stage service delivery methods. Directs, manages, supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of Event Services functions assuring the highest quality service program to assure rebooking of events. Provides highly responsible staff assistance to the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee event management activities for all facility events
  • Direct, coordinate and oversee the activities of employees engaged in providing event coordination, telecommunications, technical support, audio-visual services, food & beverage, event security, fire regulation compliance, exhibitor services, box office, parking and overall client satisfaction during events
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate and evaluate Event Managers; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
  • Exercise direct supervision over Event Managers, Event Coordinators, Event Interns, and Event Staff
  • Recommend capital improvements; control and monitor departmental expenditures; assist in preparation of estimated revenues for facility budget
  • Consult with exhibit managers, promoters, convention representatives, and others concerning physical set-up needs and requirements for licensed areas; prepare work orders and cost-estimates accordingly
  • Inspect facilities to ensure they are being maintained properly for events
  • Develop crowd management and event staffing plans and supervise event staff during events
  • Ensure accuracy in computing of costs for post-event billing of services and equipment rental charges
  • Review and approve final billing to facility users prior to settlement or release of invoice
  • Work closely with the general public by monitoring services provided and addressing complaints in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Conduct planning and operational meetings as required to ensure smooth coordination of event activities
  • Track, record and report labor allocations in all areas of functional responsibility for purposes of forecasting, benchmarking and budgeting
  • Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all event related programs and activities
  • Prepare and present regular staff reports and other related correspondence
  • Work with other department directors in a variety of tasks

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

DESCRIPTION

In consultation with the General Manager, the Director of Operations manages, supervises, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the complex including but not limited to maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping, landscaping/grounds keeping, equipment safety and capital projects. This employee also provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers and supervisors, assuring the highest quality service program to assure booking and rebooking of events. The Director of Operations ensures an effective and cost-efficient program by controlling departmental operating budget while providing highly responsible staff assistance to the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees overall daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems.  This includes HVAC, sound, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, scoreboard sytems, pest control, custodial services, etc.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the facility’s operations and capital budgets; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
  • Oversees the advancing and communicating of event information to the appropriate departments and staff.
  • Oversees the operation of event set-up and tear-down, i.e. basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, signs, banquet functions, etc.
  • Acts as liaison with City and County Services for numerous facility related functions (City Codes, Parking, Licenses, permits, inspections, warranties, etc).
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety compliance.
  • Develop and update comprehensive management reports and manuals (i.e. Operations Manual, Annual Preventative Maintenance Plan, Annual Facility Report, Fire Code Rules & Regulations, etc).
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Conduct a variety of organizational and operational studies; recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility users.
  • Direct and monitor the work of contractors, engineers and architects on building projects.
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program, and material safety data sheets; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER

DESCRIPTION

The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution\service of all catered & concessions events with a primary focus on the Tyson Event Center. This role will also include duties/projects as assigned at the Sioux City Convention Center and Sioux City Orpheum. The Food & Beverage is responsible for assisting the AGM & General Manager with the efficient, professional, and profitable operation. The Food & Beverage Manager must be personable and able to work in an ever- changing fast-paced environment.  The Food & Beverage Manager will be responsible for training and developing all service staff.   

  

The Food & Beverage Manager must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events per business need.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall Management of Catering and Concessions Food and Beverage operations including: interviewing, hiring, scheduling, ordering, inventory, labor costs and equipment maintenance. 
  • Ensure legal, efficient, professional and profitable operation of the venue. 
  • Generate and review financial reports, including budgets, projections, forecasting, revenue analysis, disbursements, capital investments, labor and product costs, wage and salary control, P&L financial statements. 
  • Conflict resolution; last-resort mediation; arbitration and labor negotiations, when applicable. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the serving of meals to guests or directing guests to the buffet line. 
  • Responsible for overseeing serving beverages to guests including alcoholic beverages.  Must check guest’s ID to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages. 
  • Responsible for observing guests to respond to any additional requests and determine when the meal has been completed. 
  • Responsible for executing all directives stated in all Banquet Event Orders. 
  • Responsible for completion and updating of administrative paperwork associated with events, i.e. diagrams, timelines and side-work assignments. 
  • Responsible for ensuring tableware and linens replaced as necessary. 
  • Be able to identify ingredients or explains how various items on the menu are prepared. 
  • Assists in setting up banquet functions including linens, dishware, glassware and silverware. 
  • Responsible for observing guests to respond to any additional requests and determine before, during or after the served meal. 
  • Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas. 
  • Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance. 
  • Assures that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to start of event. 
  • Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to cut off alcohol to such individuals. 
  • Leads F&B team with projects including training, inventory and special events. 
  • Leads Concessions Department in supervising outlets when business demands. 
  • Knowledge of Union Contract contents 
  • Enforces all OVG policies and procedures. 
  • Practices excellent Human Resources skills regarding employee relations, corrective action, coaching and counseling employees and completes all necessary HR related paperwork. 
  • Program Point of Sale system with accurate menu items and pricing prior to events.  
  • All other duties as assigned by the Asst. General Manager and General Manager.
